Centennial in Crown Heights
As the Universal Church marked the solemnity of Christ the King and the closing of the Year of Mercy, Crown Heights’ residents gathered to commemorate the centennial of the first Mass celebrated in St. Gregory the Great Church.
Bishop Tiedemann Installed as Pastor
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio installed Auxiliary Bishop Neil Tiedemann, C.P., as the pastor of St. Matthias parish, Ridgewood, on Nov. 19.
Queens Knights Feed Neighbors In Need
For a second year, the Msgr. Dillon Knights of Columbus Council No. 5872 in Whitestone teamed with the St. Ambrose Council No. 1463 in College Point to hold a drive to benefit local food pantries. Members collected 750 pounds of food, $300 in monetary donations and an additional $350 to purchase turkeys for the needy.
Liturgies Close Holy Year Around the Diocese

Mercy-Filled Tour of Holy Doors
Father Dwayne Davis, parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas parish, Flatlands, led a full-day tour of seven Holy Doors of Mercy at churches in Brooklyn and Queens in anticipation of the closing of the Jubilee Year of Mercy this Sunday, Nov. 20.
Foundations for Ministry Begins in January
The Pastoral Institute will be offering its 10-week, 20-hour Foundations for Ministry Program in two languages beginning in January in various host sites. This program is designed for men and women who are discerning participation in the longer Lay Ministry Program or who desire a basic update in theology for ministry. It is being offered in English and Spanish.
