Cathedral Club Remembers Deceased With Mass

Joseph P. McHugh, Frances Rauso, Patricia Hoza… The names of the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn members who died this year were read solemnly and prayerfully at the group’s annual Memorial Mass Nov. 23.

The Legacy Lives on at St. Joseph HS

Less than a year before St. Joseph H.S. will close its doors in Downtown Brooklyn for good, alumnae, faculty and students participated in the final Women’s Professional Day, Nov. 22, encouraging one another as a community rooted in the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the order that runs the school.

‘Arcángel’ in Brooklyn

Cándido Arcángel opens the basement of his shop to homeless men so that they will have a warm and safe place to sleep at night. He is a Catholic from the Dominican Republic who attends Mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria in Borough Park.

Diocesan Bishops Discuss Visit to Vatican

Auxiliary Bishop Raymond Chappetto described the ad limina visit to Rome Nov. 11-15 as a pilgrimage. The bishops of New York state’s eight dioceses traveled to the Vatican for an official visit to report on the state of their dioceses, and during their time in Rome, the bishops celebrated Mass at the city’s four major basilicas.

Borno Brothers ‘Band’ Together for Haiti

Father St. Charles Borno, pastor at Church of the Holy Innocent and Our Lady of Refuge in Flatbush, has joined with his nine brothers to produce an album of Haitian-style worship music. The album is called “Chwazi Jezi” (“Choose Jesus”).
