Brooklyn Diocese Hosts First-Ever St. Brigid Feast Day Celebration with Standing-Room-Only Mass

The Irish Apostolate sponsored the Diocese of Brooklyn’s first-ever celebration of the feast of St. Brigid with a standing-room-only congregation at the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Downtown Brooklyn.

Bishop Robert Brennan celebrated Mass and was joined by Father Christopher Heanue, coordinator of the apostolate, and more than 20 diocesan priests.

Also participating in the celebration were members of the NYPD Emerald Society bagpipers and the O’Malley School of Dance. Deacon Gerry Devine of the Holy Name of Jesus in Windsor Terrace, a native of Ireland, assisted, and Deacon Kevin McCormack proclaimed the Gospel.
