Bishop Kearney Students Show Their Gratitude to Wounded Warriors

Young ladies of Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, did not take a vacation from community service this summer.

Students Tala Barias and Lauren Arnom, left, both students at Bishop Kearney H.S. were volunteers at a block party benefiting wounded U.S. soldiers.

They showed their gratitude to the men and women of the armed forces by assisting the Fire Department of New York in organizing a block party.

Soldiers from the Wounded Warrior Project rode bicycles, including recline and arm bicycles, from Manhattan to Brooklyn.

A block party was organized to meet them in Brooklyn on 70th St. and 18th Ave. The party also a raised funds for U.S. servicemen and women who have been injured in battle.

The entire Brooklyn community was invited to attend.  Bishop Kearney students volunteered to help set up, serve food and water to the soldiers and  clean up after the event.  This is the fourth year the Kearney community has served in this capacity.
