JAMAICA — Bishop of Brooklyn Robert Brennan enjoyed a day of Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) baseball on May 21 at Jack Kaiser Stadium on the campus of St. John’s University, Jamaica.

Bishop Brennan stayed as cool as possible in the 90-degree weather as local diocesan varsity CHSAA baseball teams competed on the turf. In the first game of the day, Archbishop Molloy High School, Briarwood, battled to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over rival Holy Cross High School, Flushing.

With the win, the Stanners advanced to the CHSAA intersectional playoffs.

The second game saw the mighty Xaverian, Bay Ridge, Clippers take down Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, 13-3.

The Clippers earned the Brooklyn-Queens championship title, but both teams will move on to the CHSAA intersectional double-elimination playoff tournament that begins Thursday, May 26.
