For 110 years, St. Joseph High School (SJHS) has stood in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.
While the neighborhood has gone through many transformations, SJHS has remained steadfast in educating young women for college, career and life. Alumnae have continued their studies to be professional women in the arts, business, education, government, law, medicine and other professions, supported by a curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners.
An education at SJHS encourages students to question, to challenge, to recognize and develop her gifts so that she is able to make a profound impact on the world. Small-class sizes, state-of-the-art laboratories and a technology-equipped building are just part of what makes all this happen.
In addition, Career Access and Art Ready Programs prepare students for the world through internships with local businesses and institutions in the neighborhood of Downtown Brooklyn. The Society of Young Hispanic Engineers partners with NYU-Poly and exposes students to opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
SJHS has a well-qualified faculty and staff whose commitment promotes a 100-percent graduation rate. Acceptance and scholarship awards into Barnard, Fordham, NYU, St. Francis College, St. Joseph College, St. Thomas Aquinas, Union and other colleges and universities are aided by the guidance and college counselors.
The SJHS Speech Team continues its winning ways, earning finalist awards at many competitions. Its Step Team is talented, and the school newspaper is one of the tops in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Many other co-curricular activities not only enrich but also form a well-rounded student. Students demonstrate an appreciation for all the opportunities provided by being of service in and around our neighborhood.
The SJHS Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition affordable for our families. The generosity of alumnae, friends and foundations sustains our efforts and allows us to build our programs making us the best investment for the dollar in our city.
SJHS: Nurturing dreams, creating futures since 1904!
