Back to School 2014 – Our Lady of the Angelus Catholic Academy

Our Lady of the Angelus Catholic Academy (OLA), a Christ-centered school in Rego Park, is a small Roman Catholic school serving students from nursery age through grade eight.

The student population represents the diversity of the area and reflects a wide variety of linguistic, cultural, racial, ethnic and religious groups. OLA is proud to say that its graduates are accepted into the best Catholic, private and public high schools, and many receive scholarships and admission to advanced and honors programs.

Technology is integrated at OLA in all subject areas, through the use of desktop and laptop computers; additionally, all classes have Internet access. SMART Boards have been installed, adding to the interactive learning experience.

OLA’s curriculum includes Spanish language classes provided for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school offers both an early drop-off program and an after-school program. An instrumental music program starts in second grade; piano instruction after school is also offered.

In addition to an advanced math program for eighth graders, OLA offers a program for gifted and talented students as well as tutorial services for students in need. Students participate in many educational field trips; after-school clubs, sports and intramural sports clinics in soccer and T-ball offer children opportunities for enrichment and athleticism. Students participate in many service activities including yearlong food drives, after-school volunteer programs and peer tutoring.

Most importantly, OLA is proud of its academic excellence, evidenced by its outstanding showing on New York State and yearly national achievement tests.
