Back to School 2014 – St. Francis, the Small College of Big Dreams

In the world of colleges, St. Francis College is a dream come true.

Founded more than 150 years ago by the Franciscan Brothers, the mission of St. Francis has always been to help young people achieve their life dreams of personal and professional success by making a top-quality college education more affordable.

Generations of St. Francis graduates have gone on to achieve great success as leaders in business, finance, education, public service, health care and more. And as alumni, they remain actively involved with the college by providing mentoring and internships to the next generation of dreamers.  That’s the St. Francis way.

Today, the St. Francis dream is alive and well in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. Not only is St. Francis rated by U.S. News & World Report, Forbes.com and Money magazine as a top college, it is also one of the most affordable private colleges in the New York metropolitan area. With an exceptionally generous financial program, St. Francis can make a student’s  college dreams possible.

The college offers more than 70 programs, majors and minors, including the cutting-edge fields of sports management, entrepreneurship and interactive media. Communication arts majors take advantage of the state-of-the-art HDTV production studio and art theater, while the five-year combined B.S./M.S. degree in accounting, as well as an M.S. degree in professional accounting takes graduates onto jobs at both “Big Four” accounting firms and private companies.

In addition, a five-year combined B.A./M.A. in psychology offer students the benefits of the same degrees but graduating in less time. A graduate-level certificate in project management is also growing in popularity and is designed for individuals who want to enhance their project management skills through an intensive executive-level program. A minor in project management is also being offered and is open to all majors.

Students participate on 19 Division I athletic teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, golf, men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and the nationally-ranked men’s water polo team.

Whether students decide to commute or to live in Brooklyn Heights, the choice is theirs. St. Francis College has partnered with Educational Housing Services to provide safe and affordable student housing in the newly renovated St. George Residence. The college expects all students to become a vibrant part of the community.

The fall open house will be on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prospective students can tour the campus, talk to financial aid representatives to find out how affordable St. Francis can be, speak to faculty to learn all about the college’s programs and majors and discover all the great internship opportunities available.
