Elmhurst resident and longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Astoria, Mr. Tu Vu, 79, died April 21 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after a year-long illness.
For many years, he was president of the Catholic Vietnamese community of the Brooklyn Diocese, and was a recipient of the Catholic Migration Office’s “Shining Star” Award. He served as an officer in the South Vietnamese Air Force and later worked for Catholic Charities U.S.A. in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife Tram and three children.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for April 30 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
