On Sept. 14 at noon, in the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan will join with bishops, clergy and laypersons from throughout the United States in a memorial Mass for the late Archbishop Pietro Sambi who died on July 27, following post-operative complications.

Archbishop Sambi was the Vatican Nuncio to the United States and will be remembered for his priestly example and tireless service to our Holy Father and the Church. He was a good friend to the United States and, even as he goes to Lord, we remain forever grateful for the time he spent serving us.
