Health Sciences Lab Opens World of Opportunities
For more than a century, St. Agnes Academic High School in College Point has been educating, empowering and inspiring young women. Students are exposed to a full range of academic resources and college partnerships to assure success in high school, college and beyond.
St. Agnes is a witness to the importance of an all-girls education. The school recognizes that success for women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is critical to the future. In September, every student received a Chromebook as part of the Google Classroom Project.
This fall, the school also introduced a Health Sciences Program to provide hands-on experience and opportunities in a variety of health care fields. The new Maureen Martin Fritch ’78 Health Sciences Lab offers students a world of opportunities, and will give St. Agnes girls an “edge” when applying to healthcare and nursing programs.
St. Agnes offers students additional opportunities for independent study through the Science Research Program at SUNY Albany, internships with New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens and college credit for math and science courses through St. John’s University and an expanded partnership with Molloy College, Rockville Centre.
Statistics prove that students enrolled in all-girls schools set higher educational goals, feel in control of their choices and achieve at higher levels in math, science and reading. This is more than a statistic at St. Agnes. Success happens every day with every girl in every classroom!
