Dear Editor: Catholic Extension has announced their Aid for Families of Deported Breadwinners program (The Tablet website, Aug. 9).

There are many American citizens who are sentenced to jail each and every day for crimes they commit. Many of these American citizens are parents too. And they too are forcibly separated from their families as well.

Does the Chicago-based Catholic organization plan to financially help these husbands, wives and children left without their breadwinner because of the crimes these American citizens have
committed?
