Dear Editor: I had the pleasure of meeting Jessica when she was a baby (“Let Them Speak: Never Be Afraid of Being Yourself,” May 19). She trusted me enough to let me hold her; but I was told to lay her head on the table because she had no control, nor the ability to, lift it or move it on her own.

But that didn’t stop her. She somehow managed to overcome hurdles with her creativeness and fierce determination in order to grow and learn. She has always been an amazing and inspirational young lady.

She has taught me to never feel sorry for myself and to appreciate the many blessings in my life. I’m so very proud to know her and to watch her continued success. You go girl!

Dear Editor:  I am so proud of Jessica. She is a wonderful young lady, happy, funny, loving and a caring person. I love her dearly. She wrote a powerful letter, I’m sure she has reached the hearts of St. Mel’s parishioners, as she did me, her grandmother. She never ceases to amaze me. God bless you, Jessica.
