Let’s Try to Get Gun Control Right
Dear Editor: Yet another senseless school shooting in Minneapolis. Two little children are dead, with 21 others wounded; six were in critical condition.
Our houses of worship and our schools are no longer safe sanctuaries for people of any faith in this country. The American people look to
politicians to set an example for the people. The majority party that claims to “Make America Great Again” might want to re-evaluate its priorities.
Instead of going after migrants, most of whom are law-abiding and trying to make an honest living, why not go after the ridiculous gun laws in this country, where anyone who wants a gun can get one without question? Too many acts of gun violence are destroying people’s lives in this country.
It’s time to change the laws regarding gun ownership in this nation. Too many innocents are dying, and too many families are left suffering. Let’s see real action on gun control laws. It is too long overdue.

Dear Editor: I couldn’t agree more with Rosemarie Pace (“The Right to Live Free from Gun Violence,” Sept. 13). I would add that reasonable gun control is a right-to-life issue.
It is time for Catholics to put the same energy into securing appropriate legislation as they put into the antiabortion movement.

Supporting the Traditional Latin Mass
Dear Editor: As one who worships at both the English Mass and the Traditional Latin Mass, I find Maria Mastromarino’s letter strange and troubling (“Not The Latin Mass,” Aug. 23). I, too, am old enough to remember when the Traditional Latin Mass was the norm.
Still, over the years, when attending the millenia-old Latin Mass, which nourished the faith of the army of saints to whom we pray, many of whom
were martyred for defending it, I find the churches full with many younger people and their children, from whom muchneeded vocations have been inspired.
At this time, when polling shows an alarming lack of belief in the True Presence, the practice at the Traditional Latin Mass of kneeling to receive Our Lord is proper and instructive. As for myself, participation is far closer and more intense at the Traditional Latin Mass.
Mastromarino prefers the new liturgy.
God bless her; it is the norm, universal, and widely available. The Traditional Latin Mass is beneficial to the faithful and no threat to her preference, as many bishops have recognized.

Remembering Charlie Kirk
Dear Editor: It is a sad time in America when a person who speaks about the joys of family life, marriage, having children, being pro-life, living one’s faith, believing in God, living morally and responsibly, valuing dialogue, the peaceful exchange of ideas to correct misinformation and agreeing to respectfully disagree on issues, is considered evil today and must be destroyed (“ ‘A Tribute to Charlie Kirk’ Slated To Honor Legacy of Slain Activist,” Sept. 20).
This is done by the total mischaracterization of the speaker, a distortion of the speaker’s words and as seen recently the assassination of the
speaker. Those who celebrate this event and/or describe such speech as deserving of this deadly result, show how sick and vile
individuals in our society have become.
God help us to stay true to the values Charlie Kirk espoused.
