Sister Patricia Fox, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of Amityville who taught at schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn, died on Oct. 23. She was 80. She entered the novitiate in Amityville, L.I., in 1959 and received her religious name, Sister Helen Marie, a year later. She pronounced her final vows in 1964. Sister Patricia earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, and she taught at St. Pancras School, Glendale; Our Lady of Hope School, Middle Village; St. Leonard School, Brooklyn; Our Lady of Solace School, Brooklyn; and St. Joseph School, Long Island City. From 1990 to 2010, Sister Patricia returned to elementary education at St.Fidelis School, College Point and then spent her last 19 years of ministry at St. Agnes Academic H.S, College Point.
Her funeral Mass was offered on Oct. 28 in St. Albert Chapel at Queen of the Rosary Motherhouse in Amityville, L.I. Burial in the sisters’ cemetery followed.
