Dear Editor: A very large thank you to the parishioners of St. Kevin’s parish in Flushing.

At the start of the Year of Mercy, they contacted St. Gerard Majella parish and offered to help us gather food for our parish food pantry ministry. They wanted to actively do a corporal work of mercy as a parish community for the Year of Mercy and beyond. So every month they would come to St. Gerard’s with three or four carloads of donated food to be given out to our people in need.

Last week they came with four vans of food, over 100 turkeys with all the trimmings, and over 200 boxes of canned food to supply our pantry for the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

The people of St. Gerard’s, having seen their acts of mercy, have been overwhelmed by their generous witness and desire to life their faith.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Please know we are praying for you at Mass and we are moved by your witness of Mercy. God bless you!
