God Is With Us, Even During These Difficult Times

As we come to Lent this year, we cannot help but remember how we began Lent last year at the start of the pandemic. The time of COVID-19 was coming upon us, and little did we understand how it happened, nor how long we would have to endure the pandemic. Lent 2021 is yet another Lent we will have to pass through in the time of coronavirus. Yet, this time gives us a real opportunity to prepare for Easter, the time when we renew our faith.

One of the Mysterious Gifts That God Has Given to Us

Teaching the philosophies of existentialism and personalism for many years, I think has deepened my understanding of freedom. Because freedom is one of the mysterious gifts that God has given to us, I don’t claim to understand the mystery of freedom completely. Still, I think reading and teaching some great philosophers has helped me go more deeply into the meaning of freedom and the central role it plays in the development of the human person.

Lenten Regulations 2021

We soon will enter the Season of Lent during an extraordinary time as we continue to face the pandemic which has caused so much suffering already. In some ways, it is itself a penance as is all suffering if we can unite it to the sufferings of Christ as we live in hope for the victory of the Resurrection.
