Changing Words of Prayers

Dear Editor: I have personally known five convicted murderers and interviewed hundreds of other criminals, but I do not believe I have ever encountered more appalling and shallow reasoning than the letter advising that we abandon humility and no longer identify ourselves as sinners while praying the Hail Mary.

A Tale of Two City Buses

A few days after Christmas, I battled the crowds at Rockefeller Center to see the large tree, and the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Christmas creche, which includes “Lex” (short for Lexington), the statue of the rector’s dog, sitting and gazing at the Christ Child.

After months of legal appeals and pressure from religious institutions devastated by recent hurricanes, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that houses of worship are now eligible to receive federal relief.

Modern Twist to Nativity in Borough Park

This week’s Tablet TALK offers opportunities to get a fresh start in this new year and highlights those who have made significant achievements.

Fun Trek Through the Jungle with ‘Jumanji’

This amusing comic adventure finds a quartet of teens magically transported into an old video game where they inhabit the avatars they chose before the start of play. For mature viewers, there is fun to be had from this trek through the jungle. But its undergrowth is too thick for the tread of kids.
