Bob Golden had a very successful business career as an executive with Prudential. Although he is now retired, he continues to be a major benefactor for diocesan charities. For instance, his support for The Cathedral Club of Brooklyn is evident by his presence each year at the annual fund-raising dinner.

Each year, the Pro-Life movement comes together for the March for Life in Washington, D.C. This year, it was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 19. This annual event provides an opportunity for us to gather in our Nation’s capital and march down Constitution Avenue, ending at the Supreme Court, where the decision to make abortion legal in the United States has set a damaging path, reducing human life to a choice. It is unfortunate that there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the beginning of human life, its innate dignity and the possibility of terminating life.

Sister Rita Josephine Lisanti, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 85 years, died in hospice care at St. Joseph Convent in Brentwood, Jan. 10. She was 103.
Brother Aidan Curtin, S.C., a member of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, for 63 years, died at Ozanam Hall Nursing Home, Bayside, Oct. 30. He was 82.
Sister Marilyn Welsh, S.C., a Sister of Charity-Halifax, Nova, Scotia, for 65 years, died Jan. 1 at Mount St. Vincent, Wellesley Hills, Mass. She was 86.
Sister Anne Casey, S.C., a Sister of Charity-Halifax, Nova Scotia, for 74 years, died Dec. 28 at Mount St. Vincent, Wellesley Hills, Mass. She was 96.
