Youth Views: What does the Ascension of the Lord mean to you?

je3_cmykJulianna Emilio, junior Bishop Kearney H.S.

Through Jesus’ Ascension, we realize that He is able to be with us everywhere at all times. The most important thing about the Ascension is that we can always count on Jesus, which is one of the main reasons He died on the cross. We should never forget what Jesus did for us.

Jesus promised us He would always be around. Jesus is everywhere, helping us everyday and guiding us in the right path. He “left” earth, but His presence is still surrounding us.

The Ascension means to me that even though Jesus came back to earth and then left again, He is always here with us. He is all-knowing and is with us forever. Even though we cannot see or hear Him, He is always present in our lives.

Thanks to the Ascension of Jesus, we as Catholics are able to spend time with Jesus and open our ears to Him. Even though He is not present to us in a human body, He allows us to always lean on Him.
