The worldwide observance of the Year for Consecrated Life proclaimed by Pope Francis will open in the diocese with prayer services in Brooklyn and Queens. Our Lady of Angels Church, Bay Ridge, will be the site for the Brooklyn service on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3:30 p.m. The opening in Queens will take place on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Immaculate Conception Monastery Church, Jamaica Estates, at 3:30 p.m.
World Day for Consecrated Life will be celebrated on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at St. James Cathedral-Basilica, Brooklyn, at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
National Catholic Sisters Week will be observed March 8-15, 2015. An inter-diocesan day for religious will be held at St. John’s University, Jamaica, on Saturday, March 14, 1:15 – 4 p.m. It will be conducted by Brother Sean Sammon, FMS.
Other events being planned include: Youth Day, April 18; a Lenten evening of prayer; Fall inter-cultural festival in 2015; Advent vespers in 2015; and a closing liturgy in 2016.
