Letters to the Editor

Well Wishes Father Wlad

Dear Editor: As a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Astoria, I was saddened to learn that Father Wlad Kubrak was leaving our parish and going to St. Pancras, Glendale. In the short time that he has served our church, he made a strong impression on the parish and me.

What I particularly admire about him is his ability to “tell it like it is” which is to stay that he tells people what they need to hear and not necessarily what they want to hear. Humility, which is a quality so lacking in today’s leaders, he has in abundance.

The novelist, Edith Wharton wrote,” There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that receives it.”

Father Wlad is that candle and hopefully we are the mirrors. I hope the parishioners of St. Pancras come to appreciate him as much as we do.
