We’ll Miss Father Frank

Dear Editor: Soon Blessed Sacrament parish and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy will bid farewell to our pastor, Father Francis Shannon, known to all as Father Frank. He will be moving to St. Mary Star of the Sea-St. Gertrude in Far Rockaway.

Father Frank is a wonderful priest, who is humble and unpretentious. He visits nursing homes and hospitals, blesses homes, comforts families at wakes, celebrates Mass for the Mercy Sisters and schedules counseling sessions late at night. There are so many more things I could list, but Father Frank does not like or expect accolades.

Father Frank has been a special friend and supporter of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy and we will miss him dearly. He has taught our students to love the Mass and praise Jesus with song. He was always there in times of need, whether it was for the students, parents, faculty or administration. His support has been invaluable especially to me as principal. It is difficult to express my appreciation for these past 13 years of guidance and friendship.

We wish you happiness, Father Frank, in your new home by the sea. Your new parish family will soon learn how blessed they are to have you as a pastor.
