Father Luis Laverde, the new pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Cypress Hills, received a warm welcome from the school community at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy on Nov. 28. At a special assembly organized by Principal Marylou Celmer, Father Laverde was treated to songs, homemade cards, plants and gifts, including his very own academy sweatshirt, which he promptly put on, garnering smiles and applause from students and faculty alike.
