Happy 105th Birthday Mrs. Ollari!

 Regina Opera Presents “Madame Butterfly”

The Regina Opera Company invites all for a fully-staged performance of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly.” This opera tells the tragic story of a young geisha who gives up everything for American naval officer. It is sung in Italian with English supertitles, and presented with a 35-piece orchestra. The conductor for this performance is Gregory Ortega and stage director is Linda Lehr. There will be four performances at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Sunset Park: March 3, 4, 10, and 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25; $20 for senior citizens; $5 for teens; and free for children. Compassion in Action: Lent

Our Lady of the Snows, N. Floral Park, is conducting a food drive in support of the parochial and other local food pantries. On Sunday, March 18, the parish will be collecting: non-refrigerated fruit juices; tuna fish; canned soup; boxes of rice; tomato sauce; boxed pasta; noodles; macaroni and cheese; canned fruits and vegetables; and hot and cold cereals. Sisterly Vocation Discernment

An invitation is extended to young women ages 19-45 who are discerning a religious vocation to join the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne for a weekend of sharing in their life of prayer and apostolate. The retreats will take place in: Hawthorne, N.Y. – March 9-11 and July 27-29; Atlanta, Ga. – April 20-22 and Oct. 19-21; Philadelphia, Pa., – June 23 and Sept. 22.

Happy 105th Birthday Mrs. Ollari!

Vivian Ollari, currently residing at Ozanam Hall Nursing facility in Bayside, recently celebrated her 105th birthday.

Vivian Ollari née DiMaggio was born in Corona on Feb. 9, 1913. At the age of 13 she began working in the garment industry. In 1937 she married Enzo Ollari and started a family in Jackson Heights.

Ollari is a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has lived in Queens her entire life, and was a longtime member of St. Kevin’s parish in Flushing. She still enjoys doing hook rugs, crossword puzzles and visits from family and friends. She attributes her long life to clean living – no smoking and no drinking. She is an amazing person..still young at heart. Ollari is a vivacious person, always ready to tell a story. She receives Holly Communion daily.
