Dear Editor: I quote The Editor’s Space (April 16): “But now with the first pope to have been ordained a priest after the Second Vatican Council, we have a man who is fully immersed in the Spirit of the Council and lives it as second nature.”
I do not understand “fully immersed” at all since both St. Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, papacies that total 35 years, were participants at the Second Vatican Council and the drafting of the resulting documents. I would think their direct experience enabled them to reflect the true Spirit of the Council.
