To Know Right from Wrong

Dear Editor: People never miss a chance to throw stones at St. Peter. They constantly forget that St. Peter would have died that day with Jesus. It was Jesus who took the sword away and told Peter that is not the way. So, Peter stood as close as he could and had to deny Jesus, so he could live to carry on the work Jesus wanted him and the other Apostles to do.

When asked three times if Peter love Jesus, Peter said ‘Yes, I do’ and told Jesus that He knew everything.

As for being quiet in all this mess, isn’t that what some of the Jewish and political leaders wanted the Apostles to do?

They wanted to silence everyone and hoped that the death of Jesus would go away and never be mentioned again. Just like the abuse of children, many want it to go away and never be mentioned again. Well it seems like some things never go away. People are still killed, shunned or unfriended for standing up for the goodness that Jesus taught.

Young and old have gotten so out of control by the teachings of society that nothing is right or wrong. Many children are taught no respect for adults, for this country, for other people’s property, for God. They are taught they cannot control sexual desires, sex is thrown in their faces at school, on TV, in newspapers and books. Everyone can talk about sex but parents and religious.

It is time to stop allowing all this evil to keep growing. Time to know there is right from wrong and we just don’t get into Heaven because Jesus died for our sins. Yes, He asked for forgiveness, but He also said many would pay if they touched a hair on the head of a child, told the prostitute to go and sin no more and the tax collector to give back all the high taxes charged.

We are all sinners, and Jesus taught us good from evil, sadly we have forgotten to listen to what He taught.
