It was a great week for the DeSales Media Group, the parent company of The Tablet and NET-TV, both of which were honored with different awards. At the Catholic Press Association Awards Dinner in Denver, The Tablet took home seven prizes in the annual Catholic Press competition. The Tablet won first place for best editorial writing on a local event (Hurricane Sandy); second places for headline writing (“To Hell With You Catholics”), news coverage of Hurricane Sandy and best editorial pages; and honorable mention for best photo story (ordination of priests) and two for best sports reporting by Jim Mancari.
NET was honored with the reception of a Telly Award for its recent original series on Vatican II, produced by Amanda Melefsky. NET also was honored by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA) as the 2013 Audio Winner of the 19th Annual Communicator Award of Excellence.
The Gold Communicator has been awarded to DeSales Media for producing The Silver Shield Foundation video titled “Fallen Heroes.” The award will be presented at a special pre-game ceremony at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
