Letters to the Editor

The Call Continues

Dear Editor: As I read Bishop DiMarzio’s column (Jan. 30), I thought back to my high school days when young women entered religious congregations each year – 30, 50 and even 100 each year. The times have changed and the young women of today have so many more wonderful, enriching opportunities open to them, and rightly so.

We, who entered religious life, went out into the neighborhoods to see what good we could do and we continue to do it. Today, many single and married women bring their faith, their gifts, and talents, and their love of the Church to the service of God’s people.

I do so sincerely believe that even today, God does continue to ask for those persons, female and male, to consider the consecrated life and perhaps feel encouraged when invited to “come and see.”
