Dr. Vincent Rizzuto, 85, a retired internist from Forest Hills, was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and depression but says he was cured of both through the intercession of St. Charles of Mount Argus (1821-1893), a Passionist priest who was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007.
The Passionists, an order of priests, will receive nearly $200,000 from the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Generations of Faith campaign to provide healthcare for its elderly priests and brothers.
The Passionists’ religious order marked the beginning of a new chapter in its life of service in the Diocese of Brooklyn with a symbolic groundbreaking for a new environmentally-friendly building on Feb. 26.
