Msgr. King Tourney Returns to Flatlands

The Msgr. King Basketball Tournament returned to the St. Thomas Aquinas Dec. 26-30. Named after Msgr. Jeremiah J. King – the parish pastor who oversaw the building of the gym – it was the first high school tournament played in a grammar school gym in the country.

The youth at Holy-Family, St. Thomas Aquinas parish, Park Slope, got creative in order to raise funds to send a delegation to World Youth Day 2013 in Brazil. Starting from the top: the group sold snacks in the parish courtyard; youth encourage parishioners to throw a coin into their wishing well; and the youth group thinks on their feet and transforms a food sale into a visit from Santa Claus.
