Keep Christ in Christmas Art Contest Winners

For the 10th consecutive year, colorful expressions of faith were on display at The Tablet’s annual Keep Christ in Christmas Art Contest award ceremony Jan. 25. Out of the nearly 1,000 student-entries, only 11 winners were selected to celebrate their creative achievements at the Archbishop John Hughes Knights of Columbus Council, Dyker Heights.

Sister Jean Wilson, S.C., a Sister of Charity, Halifax, Nova Scotia, for 60 years, died Dec. 19 at Mount St. Vincent, Wellesley, Mass. She was 88.

Obituary: Helen Coyne

Helen Coyne, who started the girls’ Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) swimming program at St. Sebastian parish in Woodside, in 1965, died Oct. 14. She was 91.

Schools Honored for Donations to Worldwide Missions

Children from Catholic schools and religious education programs who either collected the most money or gave consistently throughout the years to benefit missions around the world joined St. James parishioners for their regularly scheduled Sunday morning Mass.
