Over 30 CYO teams from Brooklyn and Queens entered the “Battle Against Breast Cancer” tournament. All proceeds were donated to charity organizations researching breast cancer.
St. Margaret’s parish in Middle Village, under the stewardship of Msgr. Steven Aguggia, entered the Generations of Faith campaign as a pilot parish. Now, it has received funds back from the campaign and is completing its main Generations of Faith project.
Sister Bernadette Jones, O..P, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, for 44 years, died Aug. 26 at her home in Malverne, L.I. She was 65.
Sister Mary William Posthauer, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, L.I., for 81 years, died June 25. She was 99.
Twelve men who are studying to become permanent deacons for the parishes in Brooklyn and Queens, were admitted as Acolytes June 22 at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston. Auxiliary Bishop James Massa presided.
“The main purpose of this pilgrimage is to rediscover and celebrate the mercy of God in the cold world,” said Father John O’Connor.
In his 34 years as a teacher and track coach at the school, John Donodeo has led by example in molding young men who are open to others.
