Youth Views: What motivates you?

What motivates me is the goals I have set for myself. I am not too hard on myself, but I do refuse to give up when I know something is achievable.

Dear Editor: I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Fred Salvo on his retirement from St. Francis Preparatory High School. Mr. Salvo taught algebra, trigonometry and calculus for 45 years. Through it all, his good name has always been synonymous with excellence, integrity and dedication. I hope all the years ahead bring him great joy and well-deserved relaxation.

Father John James Purvey

Father John James Purvey, 81, a priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Md., and former Brooklyn Franciscan Brother for 29 years, died Feb. 28. A funeral Mass was celebrated by Baltimore Archbishop William Lori.

Sister Angela Esposito, C.S.J.

Sister Angela Esposito, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 70 years, died May 11 at Maria Regina Residence. She entered the congregation in 1946 from St. Thomas Aquinas parish, Brooklyn. She earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Manhattan College in 1956, and from St. John’s University in 1958. […]

When the graduating class of St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, files into St. John’s University on Saturday, June 6, another academic year will be concluding. But here at the Prep, education and faith always continues! We have an expression that we use frequently – “High school is four years, But St. Francis Prep is forever!”
