As it says in the Old Testament, “many hands make light work.” More than 60 students lived up to those words when they came to St. Bernard Catholic Academy in Mill Basin on Thursday, Sept. 28, to do their part to ensure that the Diocesan Eucharistic Revival is a success.
As an effort to make her a saint inches forward, a Mill Basin teenager who died of bone cancer in 2018 and who inspired many others with her faith and courage was memorialized in a street co-naming ceremony near her church on Thursday, June 15.

Deacon Samuel Mwiwawi, who is from Kenya, has a second family in the parishioners at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in Bergen Beach where he has been helping out while awaiting his ordination, June 3. He is one of four transitional deacons who will become priests that day in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Camille Fortunato admits that when her son Anthony Filippazzo was diagnosed at the age of 2 with Williams syndrome, a rare disorder that severely affects heart function and motor skills, she didn’t take the news well. She now dedicates her time to raising funds for research into the disorder.
