Generations of Faith – First Disbursement

During the month of February, approximately one year after the launch of their campaigns, the first disbursement was released to these parishes so that they could begin work on campaign projects from their case for support.

High and Grade Schools Join Forces for Socks

St. Saviour H.S., Park Slope, and St. Bernard’s Catholic Academy, Mill Basin, conducted a “Socktober” sock collection drive. They will distribute the socks to hospitalized and homeless veterans.

Local College Students Follow Papal Simulcast

All three Catholic colleges in the diocese, St. Francis College and St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn and St. John’s University in Queens, had students at some papal events, but for those who couldn’t get tickets, St. Joseph’s and St. John’s set up TV screens on their campuses to follow the pope’s historic trip.

Parishes in Brooklyn and Queens will warmly welcome Pope Francis this week. Mill Basin Feast for the Madonna of Mt. Carmel

Faith, tradition, culture and community – all came together at St. Bernard Church, Mill Basin, for the annual Italian feast of the Madonna del Carmine, also known as Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

New Officers for Pastoral Council

The Diocesan Pastoral Council has announced a new slate of officers. At its June 16th meeting, Annmarie McLaughlin of Sacred Heart parish, Bayside, was elected chairperson and Christopher Iasiello of Sacred Hearts-St. Stephen, Carroll Gardens, is now the new vice-chair.
