As befitting a diocese known as the Diocese of Immigrants, the ordination of new priests at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights on Saturday, June 1, was an international celebration centered on three men from such faraway places as Brazil, Colombia, and Nigeria and one man who is Vietnamese American.

The Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph on Saturday, June 3, was nearly filled to capacity and swelled with joy during the ordinations of Ernesto Alonso, 44; Thimote Cherelus, 37; Nnamdi Eusebius Eze, 39; and Samuel Mwiwawi, 40.

Three men on Saturday, June 4 added the title of “Father” to their names, and learning their parishes parish assignments in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Their ordination ceremony was the first for Bishop Robert Brennan since he was installed late last year.
