Good Friday Collection

As Catholics commemorate Jesus’ Passion on Good Friday, the Vatican is asking them to support the church in the Holy Land with their prayers, financial contributions and possibly by making a pilgrimage.

Passion in Long Island City

Hundreds of people took part in the Good Friday procession organized by Most Precious Blood Church, Long Island City. Thirty-eight men carried six statues representing various scenes from the passion of Christ.

Bridging the Boroughs

About 1,500 people participated in the annual Way of the Cross sponsored by Communion and Liberation on Good Friday. Services began at St. James Cathedral-Basilica, Downtown Brooklyn, where Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio participated.

Good Friday in Downtown Flushing

The observance of Good Friday in the streets of downtown Flushing was an awesome sight to see, and it served as a demonstration of faith in today’s world, which is rife with violence, fear, injustice, poverty and economic instability with the survival of humanity at stake.

Stations in Borough Park

Young adults from the Jornada Movement at St. Catharine of Alexandria Church led a realistic Way of the Cross through the streets of Borough Park on Good Friday. After the two-hour procession, Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros joined the parish family to preside over the afternoon liturgy.
