For 80 years, Fontbonne Hall Academy in Bay Ridge has been preparing young women to become professional leaders who serve their communities with confidence and compassion.
As the new school year approaches, 13 Catholic academies and schools will have new principals. Many will be guiding faculties with first-time teachers.
This served as an impactful reminder to not let your struggles overpower your emotions and life. It showed me to keep the small precious things and moments, like making a new friend, close to your heart.
I already know that if Fontbonne were to offer this trip again, I would go back in a heartbeat and encourage my friends to do it as well because it was life-changing.
I participated in the ACIS Women’s Leadership Trip to the Dominican Republic with nine of my classmates from Fontbonne Hall Academy in Bay Ridge. This trip taught me leadership skills, teamwork and made me question how I could leave a lasting impact on the world through leading and educating.

Over the past three years, the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has awarded $30,000 to students in the five Bay Ridge Catholic schools and academies who are continuing their education in a Catholic high school.
Each year, The Tablet recognizes one outstanding graduate from each school as a way of saluting that year’s entire class. The scholars profiled here are young women and men who have distinguished themselves through academic achievement, Christian leadership and community involvement.
