Many Brooklynites know their city’s rich heritage in the movement to abolish slavery. However, Brooklyn’s history also contains a harsh history of slavery reaching back to the days of colonialism.

Msgr. King Tourney Returns to Flatlands
The Msgr. King Basketball Tournament returned to the St. Thomas Aquinas Dec. 26-30. Named after Msgr. Jeremiah J. King – the parish pastor who oversaw the building of the gym – it was the first high school tournament played in a grammar school gym in the country.
