Alaska’s Catholic bishops joined in extending condolences upon the news that Eugene Peltola Jr., the husband of Rep. Mary Peltola, D-Alaska, who died in a plane crash in a remote portion of western Alaska Sept. 12. The bishops said Peltola was a “devout Catholic” with a large family known for his “philosophy of sharing and taking care of others.”
