Processing Our Faith in Mary

Torchbearers fanned out across Brooklyn and Queens on Tuesday, Dec. 12, holding their flames aloft for all to see as they walked along the streets. But they weren’t Olympic torchbearers. Instead, they hailed from dozens of churches across the two boroughs as part of the Diocese of Brooklyn’s celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. 

Advocate Calls for Additional Accessibilty for Churches

Pope Francis’ prayer intention for December is for persons with disabilities, and he has called for the Catholic Church to be inclusive and welcoming, to ensure that each person “feels encouraged to do his or her part for the good of the entire ecclesial body and for the good of society as a whole.” 

‘Work Is Not Done’: Celebrating Black Catholic History

To commemorate Black Catholic History Month, an honorary Mass was celebrated at the Basilica of Old St. Patrick Cathedral on Saturday, Nov. 18, in recognition of the impact and future of Black Catholics in the Church. 

Diocese of Brooklyn Catholic Youth Day

The Diocese of Brooklyn held its first Catholic Youth Day since the start of the pandemic Nov. 18 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Jamaica. Around 150 teenagers from throughout the diocese came together to reinvigorate their faith and celebrate the Eucharist.
