As we conclude another academic year in our Catholic schools and academies, we should stop and thank God for the blessings that He has truly bestowed on us as a Diocese in Brooklyn and Queens.
Catholic School teachers from Brooklyn and Queens, who were retiring or celebrating special anniversaries, were honored at a Teachers’ Recognition Mass and Celebration June 9 at the Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston.
Once again, the fight to assure the future of Catholic schools goes on in our state of New York. The question of aid for mandated services, which many of our young people need to be successful in school (and, later on, in life), is in grave danger of being slashed severely.
Students at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Academy, Ozone Park, know their rights, and are ensuring them for themselves and their posterity. They have created a Bill of Rights based on the foundations of respect and social justice as part of a school-wide anti-bullying campaign.
