The first graduating class of Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception in Douglastown celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 8. The reunion included a Pentecost Mass at the Immaculate Conception Center, followed by a dinner reception.

Msgr. Dietz’s Priesthood Was Lesson to Seminarians
Msgr. Conrad R. Dietz, who spent most of his life teaching high school and college seminarians, died Sept. 27 at Northshore Manhasset Hospital. A senior priest, he had been living at the Bishop Mugavero Residence, Douglaston. He was 86 years old.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Msgr. Gerard J. Arella, pastor emeritus of St. Mark’s parish, Sheepshead Bay, was celebrated Feb. 3 in the chapel at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston. He died Jan. 31 at Bishop Mugavero Residence, Douglaston. He was 88.

In the 1960s, Kennedy was commissioned by the U.S. bishops to provide the psychological component of a study on the nation’s priests. In 1969, he was the first commencement speaker on the Douglaston campus of Cathedral College.
