The Supreme Court of the State of New York ruled Nov. 17 in favor of the family of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen regarding their request to allow the transfer of the sainthood candidate’s remains to Peoria, where he was raised and ordained a priest.

Pizza for Everyone

This past Sunday, we watched the canonization of a saint of our lifetime, Mother Teresa of Calcutta. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that she was a living icon of the love and mercy and peace that is our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Cause of Archbishop Sheen
With the expressed will of his oldest living relative, the body of the Servant of God, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, will eventually be moved from New York to his home diocese of Peoria in Illinois. This comes after many years of dialogue between the Archdiocese of New York, who had Sheen’s remains interred in the crypt of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Diocese of Peoria, who wishes to place Sheen in the crypt of Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria, where he received his First Communion and where he was ordained a priest. His parents are buried nearby Saint Mary’s and his remaining relatives still are in the area.
Family Petitions NY To Move Archbishop Sheen’s Body to Peoria
Archbishop Sheen’s niece filed a petition June 13 asking the trustees of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC to allow his remains to be disinterred and transferred to Peoria for interment.
Cause of Bishop Sheen’s Sainthood Put on Hold
