A Perfect Father’s Day For Hero Cop’s Dad
It was a Happy Father’s Day for Joseph Gugliara. He knew he was fortunate to have his 24-year-old son Filippo at his side when they attended the 10 a.m. Mass at St. Athanasius Church, Bensonhurst. Filippo is the 24-year-old transit police officer who had been stabbed earlier in the week in Brooklyn while trying to make an arrest.

Marching in Columbus Parade Was Sheer Fun
It was the Italians turn to shine at the 70th annual Columbus Day Parade in Manhattan, which featured a float from the Diocese of Brooklyn with Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio aboard. Aside from its spiritual leader, there also were a number of notables in the diocesan contingent that rode up Fifth Avenue.
