TMLA’s Mariel Is Top Scorer At Tablet’s HS Press Awards
Every year, The Tablet invites all Catholic high school newspapers in the diocese to participate in a friendly competition. The editorial staff reads all submissions and chooses winners based on the quality of the work and how it serves the student body. The ceremony was a chance to honor the work of the young journalists as they strive to promote the values of truth and justice through student journalism.

It’s tough to watch an opponent celebrate a championship. Such was the case for the Xaverian varsity hoops team last year. This year, the Clippers set out to win the CHSAA ‘AA’ city championship — and that’s exactly what they did.

The New York Road Runners hosted the 108th annual Millrose Games Feb. 20 at The Armory, and several local runners and teams had impressive showings.
Youth Views: What was a sacrifice that you’ve made that was worth it?
A sacrifice that I have made that is worth it is participating in the Hunger Awareness Challenge because it is helping the less fortunate. I try to live in their shoes for one day during each school cycle and donate money for a greater good.
What is a sacrifice that you’ve made that was worth it?
A sacrifice in my life that I’ve made was giving up my time to altar serve, but at the end of the day, it made me feel better as a person.
