Tablet TALK: Whitestone Knights Support Bridge to Life

A gourmet meal of tilapia, sausage and peppers, chicken and, of course, pasta, were served to 180 guests when the Msgr. Dillon Knights of Columbus Council, Whitestone, hosted its second annual Pasta Dinner in support of the life-giving work of The Bridge to Life, a Queens-based nonprofit dedicated to helping pregnant women choose life for their babies. Best days to go:
Giglio Sunday, July 12. Arrive by 9 a.m. for the Capo Parade, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass in honor of St. Paulinus and the dancing of the Giglio and boat.
The Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16. Masses will be celebrated in five languages throughout the day. A procession of the statue of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel throughout the neighborhood will follow 1 p.m. Mass.

And save the date for another feast – the inaugural Feast of the Madonna di Montevergine, a popular devotion in Avellino, Italy, in Dyker Heights. The Archbishop John Hughes Knights of Columbus Council No. 481 will host the feast Sept. 24-27 with food, games, rides and raffles.

Father Paul Achandy, C.M.I., superior general of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I.), recently made his maiden visit to the U.S., where over 100 members of the C.M.I. community are actively serving, including six in the Brooklyn Diocese. The C.M.I. members had a triennial convocation at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, L.I., last week. While in Brooklyn, Father Achandy also visited Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, and celebrated Mass at St. Anthony-St. Alphonsus, Greenpoint, which is entrusted to the care of C.M.I. priests.
