Tablet TALK: Pink For a Day at St. Rose Academy

October is breast cancer awareness month and for the seventh straight year, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy, Rockaway Beach, conducted a pink dress down day to raise awareness. Faculty, staff and students paid a nominal dress-down fee and donated the proceeds to breast cancer research in memory of several women close to the school community, and in honor of three parent survivors. Holy Name of Jesus Church, Park Slope, invites Tablet readers to pray for the faithful departed in Green-Wood Cemetery at an All Souls Day Mass in the cemetery chapel on Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m. Msgr. Lawrence Ryan, pastor of Holy Name, will be the main celebrant.

Father Joseph Attard of Most Precious Blood Church, Bath Beach, retired and returned to his home diocese in Gozo, Malta, on Oct. 1. For more than 25 years, Father Attard was known for his kind and constant presence in the parish. The parish family will miss him and wish him all the best.

New lectors and extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist were installed at Our Lady of the Snows, N. Floral Park, Oct. 18. They are: Laura Bueno, Loriann Murphy, Charles Rodrigues, Abigail Singson, Julie Swanson and Marie Warren.

Caritas Chamber Chorale, directed by Barbara Sanderman, is pleased to announce its upcoming concert of sacred choral music titled “Journey On,” for the benefit of the Adorno Fathers’ African Mission. The concert will be presented at St. Luke Church, Whitestone, on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
The concert will present sacred a cappella music of many styles, eras and genres, all encouraging in the journey of life. Admission is free, but a free-will donation will be accepted. All proceeds support the Gianni Diurni Primary School in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, which is run by the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission.
