TT_dominicans_buildDominican Family Reaches Out

During the week of Aug. 17-21, Sisters of St. Dominic from Amityville, L.I., Blauvelt, N.Y., Sparkill, N.Y., and Sinsinawa, Wis., joined with their associates and young adults to participate in the first Dominican Family Build. They came together to help local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy rebuild their homes and their lives.
The group of 20 worked at three different sites – two in Brooklyn and one in Far Rockaway. They hung dry wall, mudded and did a lot of sanding. It was hard work, but all was done in a great spirit of collaboration and fun!
Sparkill Dominican Sister Pat Hogan brought a great group from her parish and Amityville Sister Maryellen O’Grady, O.P., director of Dominican Sisters in Committed Collaboration, also joined the crew. Some participants are pictured above. (Photo courtesy the Dominican Sisters of Amityville)
